Scar, I had come to the same conclusion and figured it was just a matter of time.
I think Dave Krieger of the Denver Post sums it up pretty well. "Before he organizes his first practice or calls his first play, Josh McDaniels has an indelible Denver legacy: In his first three months on the job, he drove away the franchise quarterback. Perhaps he'll be around long enough to overshadow that legacy with brilliant successes of his own. Perhaps not. But in the colorful history of audacious rookie coaches, McDaniels just made the top 10... ...In his first three months on the job, the Broncos' new coach has driven off the franchise quarterback and made it difficult to believe anything he says. Give him this: Dude works fast." I am having a difficult time moving on from this right now as you can see.

[QUOTE=0broncofan0;418219] In his first three months on the job, he drove away the franchise quarterback.QUOTE]
Drove away? That is BS. Pure BS. Cutler wouldn't take a call from the Owner (call goes to a voice mail), but he answers a text message from Lombardi, and says he is surprised at Bowlen's statement? Give me a break. This kid is a freaking arrogant punk. I actually, truly thought the issues would be resolved. But, according to Lombardi on Channel 4, Bus told Bowlen it was not gonna work. Bowlen is saying that the games are over, trade the little p**ck, and get on with building the team. Frankly, I would not be surprised if Bus said something that a new contract for a hundred million or so would do it, and I think Cutler bought into that idea as well. Hows that for a conspiracy theory? Detroit's first and maybe a second would likely get the job done, and I could see Sanchez in Denver. I'm glad he's leaving. |

another thing to think about... Jeff Garcia is a free agent I believe so there doesn't have to be a QB in a deal but more than likely there will be and 1 more thing ...I hate to say it but...Mike Vick is out there looking for a job

Man... I am truely dissapointed. I actually sat here wondering if there was a way I could contact Jay Cutler. To inspire him to stay with the team that drafted him. As an active duty Air Force member, proudly and proactively serving my country, I've recently thought real hard about purpose. For instance, my purpose IS to serve my country and do what my leaders need me to do which usually means I have to sacrifice hopefully in the best interest of our nation. I maintain on the line, keeping bad guys at bay. The purpose of a state policeman is the same thing except he/she does it within the nation. The purpose of the blue collar worker, we need him or her to do what they do so we can live in the comfort we live in, with conveniences (because that's the american way). Doctors have purpose, transportation folks have purpose, fishermen have purpose... in the end, we are all serving each other, doing our part in our society, pulling our weight to succeed... Bankers and rich car manufacturers??? well, look where serving themselves got them. Well, let me get to my point. I wanted to reach out to Jay Cutler, put things in perspective... who do Pro Athletes serve? what is their big picture purpose? The way I see it, their purpose is to serve us, they get paid to serve the ones who actually make sacrifices. As an active duty enlisted member, I get paid squat but I get asked to make all kinds of sacrifices and guess what, my feelings don't get hurt. I do it because the guy next to me will make the same sacrifices so we accomplish it together. I wanted to point out to Jay Cutler that there are way bigger things than him, his feelings, his wants. There are people out there who are less fortunate, who make sacrifices because the job requires them to. I don't even tell this to the airmen that work for me but today, I would tell Jay Cutler, "Just shut up and color!"

I agree with u Zam. I already see Cutler has told a 'source' that he intended on shipping his stuff from Nashville to Denver in preparation for mini-camp. Please!!! Once again he's trying to make McDaniels look the bad guy here. Him and Cook will get they're money, i sincerley hope he goes to Detroit and ruins his career. I hope the money is worth it Jay! (he would have eventually won his big contract in Denver anyway). Because u may look back on this one day and regret it. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. |

Bowlen: Cutler Good As Gone
By Mike Klis
The Denver Post Pat Bowlen is fed up. And as Broncoland has come to understand during this tumultuous offseason, when Pat Bowlen has had it, people pay with their jobs. The most important of people. Jay Cutler, the Broncos' star quarterback, is all but gone. Frustrated at what he perceives as Cutler's unwillingness to communicate, Bowlen announced Tuesday that he has given his front office permission to begin the process of working on trading Cutler. "Numerous attempts to contact Jay Cutler in the last 10 days, both by head coach Josh McDaniels and myself, have been unsuccessful," Bowlen said in a statement. "A conversation with his agent earlier today clearly communicated and confirmed to us that Jay no longer has any desire to play for the Denver Broncos. We will begin discussions with other teams in an effort to accommodate his request to be traded." This is no April Fool's joke. Bowlen was referring to a conversation Tuesday morning between Bus Cook, Cutler's agent, and Broncos general manager Brian Xanders. According to a source close to Cutler, Xanders told Cook he had better get in touch with his client because Bowlen wanted to speak to his quarterback. By Tuesday evening, Bowlen had reached his breaking point. Thus, Bowlen, in the 25th anniversary of owning the club, has dismissed iconic head coach Mike Shanahan and is about to dump his franchise quarterback in the same offseason. Shanahan, who had been the Broncos' coach the previous 14 seasons, was fired Dec. 30 and replaced 12 days later by McDaniels. Here's a twist — while Bowlen was declaring the end of the Cutler era, Shanahan sank a hole-in-one, according to his former attorney Harvey Steinberg. Shanahan got his first hole-in-one soon after getting fired by the Oakland Raiders in 1989. Cutler had heard about Bowlen's statement Tuesday but said by text message, "I'm not talking about it." A source close to Cutler said the quarterback was surprised by Bowlen's declaration. In recent days, Cutler had packed up his car in Nashville and had it shipped to Denver, where he intended to show up for the team's first minicamp April 17-19. The source added that Cutler said he has not received phone calls from the Broncos since he received a text from McDaniels a week ago Tuesday. Whatever the interpretation, Bowlen decided to exercise his ownership powers and end all confusion. He's the boss, and he says the team will trade Cutler. The Washington Redskins are among the leading candidates to pull off a deal for Cutler. The Redskins have a proven young quarterback in Jason Campbell and would meet the Broncos' preference of dealing Cutler outside their American Football Conference. The Redskins also have the No. 13 selection in this year's draft on April 25, one spot behind the Broncos. The New York Jets also have been aggressive in their pursuit of Cutler. The Jets, who have extra picks in the third and fourth rounds, are better stocked for the upcoming draft than the Redskins, who don't have picks in the second and fourth round. Four other National Football Conference teams — Tampa Bay, Chicago, Minnesota and Detroit — have previously expressed interest in Cutler. Suddenly, a situation that was both unthinkable and inevitable is about to occur. Unthinkable because Cutler is only 25 years old and was voted to the Pro Bowl during only his second full season as a starter. A young, franchise quarterback is considered the rarest of commodities, to the point of almost becoming untouchable for trade. Almost. For as the trading period opened late on Feb. 26, McDaniels discussed a proposed three-team deal that would have sent Cutler to Tampa Bay and former New England quarterback Matt Cassel to Denver. The deal never materialized, and McDaniels said discussions never got serious. But Cutler was disappointed upon learning his coach had thought about dealing him. More significantly, Cutler came to distrust McDaniels to the point that two subsequent clear-the-air conversations between the two only intensified the young quarterback's displeasure. On March 15, a day after Cutler and Cook met personally with McDaniels and Xanders and a day before the Broncos began their offseason conditioning program, Cutler formally issued a trade request. The stormy relationship seemed to calm a week ago Tuesday. McDaniels repeatedly reiterated to a large media gathering at the NFL owners meetings in Dana Point, Calif., that he wasn't going to trade Cutler. They would work it out. He's the Broncos' quarterback. After that press gathering, Cutler, who has been staying in Nashville through most of the offseason, told The Denver Post he and McDaniels were going to talk that night. The two exchanged text messages, but both sides agree a conversation never took place. McDaniels had said last Tuesday that he had received messages from other teams inquiring about Cutler, but the team wasn't responding. It appeared then that the team would wait until its first minicamp before reaching its breaking point with Cutler.

Funny Bowlen says neither he nor McDaniels has contacted Cutler in the past ten days.
But Cutler and McDaniels state otherwise.

Cutler dropped the ball. Screwed the pooch. Wet the bed.
A man pays you millions of dollars a year to play a kids game, and you're too petulant to answer your phone when that man's name shows up in your caller ID? Pathetic. Be careful what you ask for Jay, you just might get it. And I can promise you taking a wizz on Bowlen's shoes is not the way to put yourself in a situation where you can have anything like the kind of season you had last year. It will serve you right if Mr. Bowlen sends your sorry, ungrateful ass off to the NFL equivalent of Siberia. I hope he trades you to Cleveland or Chicago. Not that I'd wish your tutu-clad butt on the fans of either city, but you're going to find out pretty soon your cannon of an arm means little without Mike Shanahan's guidance, gifts, or offensive genius. If it were up to me, I'd put you last on the depth chart in Denver, refuse to trade you, and make you wallow in your diapers for the next three years. If you don't report, I'd just fine you every penny of your salary until you do. Author Poll Should the Bronco's trade Jay Cutler or make him toe the line and report? As to leading men of the NFL into battle in the arenas of the league? That's a joke. You will never again achieve the performance levels you had in Denver, and you will only have yourself to blame. You are the 2009 equivalent of Ryan Leaf's tirade with the media. Only you weren't bright enough not to bite the hand that feeds you. At least Leaf only blew it with the media. Up to now, many Bronco fans have been defending you, and because of that you could have salvaged this situation. Once those fans realize you didn't care enough about them to grow up a little bit and come back to the team, you will have lost everything of value from your time in Denver. Those same fans are going to blame you for leaving. Don't expect the next team you play for to give you a fat new contract this year either. You're signed for three years, and if they pony up the goods to trade for you, they'll be paying too much to give you anything before you prove you're worth it to them to give you more. Those pundits around the league who think you're the kind of talent who can secure a teams QB situation for the next 10 years are dreaming. If you play more than three more years, it will only be as a second-rate backup to a QB with more heart and head than you've ever shown. Don't be surprised if you ride the bench behind a guy with less of an arm either. Winning QB's in the NFL need more depth of character than you have ever shown. I'm not wishing an injury on you—it would be hard for any physical injury to actually damage you more than you've already damaged yourself. Any team thinking of trading for you should realize you will always take the low road when a clear choice is available. You're not man enough to do the work and learn the humility to take the high road, and you've proven that beyond any shadow of a doubt.

Broncos Enter Bidding War for Cutler
Blockbuster Deal in the Works
April 1, 2009 In the most confusing turn yet for new Denver Broncos head coach, Josh McDaniels, the team has released terms to re-acquire its disgruntled Pro Bowl QB, Jay Cutler. The deal involves Denver's first and third round picks in the 2009 NFL draft, a third rounder in 2010, and backup QB Chris Simms. Rather than trading these picks and Simms to another team, they will be given directly to Cutler's agent Bus Cook for his discretionary use. "Honestly, I thought this was an April Fools joke when Mr. Bowlen sat me down at 4:30 this morning to discuss the trade conditions," says McDaniels. "I mean you'd have to be a seriously confused, old bastard to fire your head coach, hire an unproven guy like me, allow your new coach and incumbent starting QB to bicker while publicly playing your hand at every step, and then attempt to trade for a guy who's still technically on your roster. I guess that's the situation that we're in." Cutler's reply to this newest trade rumor comes via Cook. "We're excited about this possibility. Jay back in orange and blue only makes sense with the restructured contract that the Broncos will be announcing soon. The influx of talent to my organization will be a very good thing as well. All sides, excluding the fans in Denver, are extremely excited about this potential deal." Chris Simms could not be reached for comment despite numerous text messages. Pending Princess Cutler's approval of the trade, he will travel to Denver this week for a physical prior to completing the deal.
