When Cutler discovered he had been shopped, he was furious because McDaniels had spoken to him as though he would be the long-term quarterback. Over the last month Cutler has simply been unable to get over it.

Hope he can once he finds a new home.

I agree that this is a big step back for the organization, but I will always remember Jay as 17 - 20. The Broncos will move forward and I will remain a BRONCO fan, not a Jay Cutler fan.

So we are supposed to be hold up ransom to some douche agent and his crybaby client??? That would be the best for the franchise? Are we to wait till this stinks so bad that cutlers stock plunges so badly that we get nothing for the guy??? Or maybe bowlen can keep hitting redial until he gets carpal tunnel syndrome? Maybe we shoulda sent a fruit basket??? Give me a damn break!!! This is an. NFL franchise that has pride and tradition. Ah screw it....the other 54 guys should sit around and wait like hostages while some snot nose baby puts his nose back into joint!!!! No no no. You get what you can and get out.

Seriously? You think the whole team went out the door with Cutler? The whole team? You Think the Broncos should just mail in the season? Seriously?

you going to stop watching the Broncos? You going to give up your chances to see the game on TC? Or at the Field? Seriously> Are you making veiled threats against the HC? What will you do if the Broncos have an 9-7 season? Will that be good enough? Golly. McFaggles? Real maturity there, Bubba...

Seriously?

Don't be pathetic. It does not look good on you, and you embarrass the Bronco fans hereon......

I love how Griese got mentioned on this thread. You say he hd heart?

I remember how he flat quit in the middle of more than one ballgame.

Oh boy. What heart.

That's some selective memory.. Or maybe its just youthful ignorance. I don't care which one it is. Doesn't matter.

Stop making up revised history. Griese was a pouting cancer that simply quit on his teammates in the middle of ballgames.

AFTER his shoulder was shredded. But then, most of the team quit early this past year.

So?

Watch Super Bowl III. Watch the faded old man with the shredded throwing arm try to lead his demoralized team back. There's a legend that knew what never say die is about.

Griese sucks. Revised history sucks.

Where did I say Griese had heart. I said he had a point about how hard it is to play QB for the Broncos post-Elway.

I will also say Griese had some out of bounds stuff to put up with from the crowd that thinks a bad haircut is relevant to a QB performance. I'm sure there are more than a few in that group who though Elway was a punk back in the day too.

Elway (who is a business partner) of Shanny stopped short of condemning Jay in this case.

The Broncos must improve to 15th in defense and win 9 nine games to match Shanny's first season. The standard is set.

Win one more game and move to the middle of the pack on the defense.

Shanahan also inherited a team with no running game.

McDaniels has shown he has Shanahan's ego. I want to see results as well.

cutler pissed on BOWLENS shoes, ignored him, refused to speak with him, and now has called BOWLEN a LIAR TWICE !

Meh.

Elway told the Colts he wouldn't play for them. John was prepared to go play baseball instead.

Manning told the Chargers not to draft him. His daddy complained in the newspaper about losing in New Orleans and said his son wasn't going to suffer in San Diego.

Star quarterbacks can do that.

Did any of the coaches or management that failed to get Elway or Manning survive?.. Nope. They all got canned.

McDaniels has his work cut out for him. Its all ok--if he wins.

Funny, you can still by Dre Bly and Ian Gold jerseys from the Broncos online shop...but Cutler has been removed:

http://www.denverbroncosproshop.com/...Home%20Replica

If you want an authentic, you can get a Bly and rip his name off for $59

My Internet was down last night, still was down early this morning and I had a dentist appointment... so it's no surprise there are a ton of posts in regards to this subject when I get here.

So I don't have time to respond to everything, but I will say this:

If Cutler isn't willing to mend fences and continues to have his feelings hurt because he was in a trade talk discussion, that's his problem.

If Cutler would rather spend more time listening to Bus Cook than hearing what Josh McDaniels has to say, that's Cutler's problem.

Therefore, if Cutler makes it clear only his agent's words count any more, he can take his ball and go play somewhere else.

Elway may not have liked Reeves. He never got to the point, though, that he refused to speak to anybody in the franchise. He learned to "get along" with Reeves. Ditto Favre with Mike Holmgren. Ditto Bradshaw with Chuck Noll, when Bradshaw could have easily told Noll off after he took over the team and led them to that first Super Bowl.

Oh, but then there was Favre complaining he didn't really want to retire. Packer fans complained and made it be known they wanted Favre to start. Didn't happen... and while the Packers struggled this year, it was mostly on the defense's shoulders, plus the running game not being there... but Aaron Rodgers performed very well.

We may have adjustments to make on defense. We may have to make adjustments on our running game. But we'll find a passer, be it Chris Simms, Jason Campbell, Brady Quinn or whoever else it is that takes over. We have a quality offensive line and a good corp of wide receivers, so in time, I have faith and confidence that the Broncos will improve.

For the naysayers out there who live and die by what the quarterback does or doesn't do for a franchise, you are entitled to your opinion... but the bottom line is, no player is above the team. If Cutler wasn't above the team, he might grumble about the trade talk in private conversation, but when asked publicly about it, he'd say "no comment" and tell his agent to butt out.

But he didn't, did he?

So I shed no tears for Cutler parting ways with the franchise. And I'm still a Bronco fan, through and through.

Here's to the next era of the Denver Broncos.

And can we please stop with the following red herrings:

Former Pro Bowl QB: So was Brian Griese. More to the point, the Pro Bowl is meaningless. Fans vote for their favorite players, the players themselves admit they tend to vote for names they recognize, so there's two-thirds of the equations that doesn't always vote for the best players.

Former first-round pick: Do I even need to get into this one?

The defense was bad and we had no running game: Aaron Rodgers had the same situation in Green Bay and he performed very well for his first season. In fact, I'd bet Rodgers would not only post the same numbers playing for Denver last season, but we might hvae actually won a couple more games because he was far less mistake prone than Cutler.

Franchise QBs mean Super Bowl dynasties: In this day and age, Super Bowl dynasties are tougher to come by. You might argue the Patriots have one, but it's not a clear-cut case like the Niners of the 80s and the Steelers of the 70s. And how well have most franchise QBs done in terms of Super Bowl wins? The only two with more than one ring are Ben Roethlisberger (who doesn't post monster numbers) and Tom Brady (who is now coming off an injury). Kurt Warner, the former Arena Football player and grocery bagger, has one and others have eluded him. Peyton Manning has one Super Bowl trip to his credit, Drew Brees has one playoff trip... need I go on?

Just once, I'd like to see rock solid evidence (not speculation or comparison) that the end of the franchise is near if Cutler is dealt. Next season, we may finish 8-8 again (just as Mike Shanahan did his first season as head coach), but in the long run, I bet we'll be better off for it... and we may find our franchise QB in some other player.

Oh, and it's funny how McDaniels texts Cutler asking him to talk, McDaniels gets reamed over the coals for this sorry way of communicating, but apparently the media is communicating with Cutler through texting.
