FOR THE WIN!!!!!!

This is FREAKing classic. Harkov and I were joking around about the stupid rumors and how they start. So, Hark writes up a "fake" little piece on the front page of BroncosFreaks.com

Here is what PFT.com did with it.

Earlier on Monday, a league source advised us that the new regime in Cleveland — known lovingly in league circles as “ManKok” — would likely be interested in Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler as an alternative to Derek Anderson and/or Brady Quinn.

And there are indeed as of this posting an old-fashioned, unsubstantiated, poo-on-the-wall “Internet rumor” regarding a deal that would send Brady Quinn and Shaun Rogers to the Broncos for Cutler and a third-round pick.

To be crystal clear, we are not reporting that a trade is or could be happening. In fact, given the top-secret manner in which the Browns handled the Kellen Winslow trade, we’re confident that word of such a transaction would not leak. Our contribution to this one is only that it’s believed that coach Eric Mangini and G.M. George Kokinis would be interested in Cutler.

(That said, you can bet that there will be plenty of people who come away from this one thinking that we’re reporting that the deal is already done.)

Much more would have to be determined, such as whether the Broncos would be interested in Quinn, who played college football at Notre Dame for Charlie Weis, who proceeded Denver coach Josh McDaniels as New England offensive coordinator and likely mentored him.

Still, we’re willing to put this one in the “possibility” category.
This is beyond classic. This is UBER CLASSIC. Harkov! Well done sir!

Now if that "story" had been "scooped" by a certain "reporter" with a camera and mike, and then sent around on a text to thousands as an "Insider" story", do you think that stuff would just get out of hand? Even if McD were to deny they had any intentions or whatever, how many of the crazed Bronco fans would hear that?

Right now, people are gullible and eager to believe the worse because everything else seems so fouled up in the country......

Pathetic. Paranoiac. No common sense, anymore....

I have a Browns fan at work who reads PFT and I'm sure he's going to bring this up too. I can't believe (well actually I can) that PFT took the bait hook line and sinker.

Those of us that are hockey fans are intimately acquainted with a phenomena like this.

Do we have a sister blog we can post another rumor? Something that sounds good on the surface, but falls apart upon any inspection.

It's just amazing how this BS gets spread around so fast. SoTx was the source on this, well mostly, he suggested Derek Anderson instead of BQ But, I was just so sick of seeing all this 'freaking out' over unsubstantiated rumors I had to see how many places would just blindly post up a story like this. So far, it seems a fair number are, heck it's even on SI.com's rumor page now, care of PFT.

How about "Cutler to the Raiders for Jamarcus Russel. Al Davis wants Cutler for his verticle passing game and always loves misfits." Even better if we can get it on a Raiders' blog first somehow.

Do make sure and forward this little fact to as many legit sources as possible. I'm sure someone (The Post? Schefter?) will enjoy pwning the rumor mongering.

Will Denver send Cutler to Cleveland for Rogers, Quinn?

Maybe the Denver Broncos really do want to trade Jay Cutler. Broncosfreaks.com is reporting a deal may already be in place that would send Cutler to the Cleveland Browns for quarterback Brady Quinn, unhappy nose tackle Shaun Rogers and a third-round pick.

Media reports over the past couple weeks have indicated that Cleveland coach Eric Mangini is not overly impressed with Quinn. Rogers, feeling snubbed by Mangini on two different occasions, has asked to be traded. As the reported noted, the trade makes sense.

For Denver, there is a lack of quality nose tackles available on the free agent market and in the draft. Also, reports out of Denver indicate Cutler is unwilling to meet with the front office and coaching staff.

From Yahoosports.com LoL.. You guys kicked the hornets nest.

Let's hope you haven't planted the seed in "ManKok's" head that this may be a posisbility prompting a call to Xanders/McDaniels. The last thing we need is another report of the team shopping Cutler, or worse Brady Quinn actually starting for the Broncos.

Maybe you should start another rumor in that case: Chad Jackson to the Steelers for Santonio Holmes, Troy Polomalu, James Harrison and Casey Hampton.
