Thank god that's over.

2 1st rounders? Orton is nothing more than a backup or 1 year placeholder.

I'm not hating the trade.

Hate that a trade had to be made, but not unhappy with what we got.

There are only maybe 8 really good QBs in the leage and Denver just traded one away. Orton and Simms can't get the ball to open WRs. Kyle Orton can't make more than one read.

Well, typical. Some people this it was good, others think it is not good.

I think the Broncos will survive without Cutler. They survived without Elway, TD, Smith, Sharpe, Plummer, and a host of other players. You might think Orton is not a good player, but you have not seen him in McDs O yet. Further, as alluded to, the Broncos have playmakers out there, yet, and I just think some people can be such downers without knowing why they are downers.....

Give it a chance. Maybe the Broncos just might be pretty good this year......

With all these picks, I'm sure McD will draft a QB to groom. Bet on it. Simms, Orton, or whoever is just a placeholder for a year or two. Neither one is the future. All this does is set the Broncos back a couple of years, but the way the team had been playing for the last couple of years, that is not saying much. Can't complain. We all wanted change...well here it is.

I can't bear to watch Orton or Simms for a year or two. What a complete f'ing joke. Why sign a guy like Dawkins if we're not going to compete now. Champ, Dawkins and the other vets have to be pissed.

Just to make it clear.....

Bears get:
Cutler and 2009 5th round pick
Broncos get:
Orton, 2009 1st rd pick, 2009 3rd rd pick, 2010 1st rd pick

So we get 2 picks in the 1st and 3rd rd this yr!!!!

What are you talking about??? Orton is a serviceable QB. Remember, the bears have NOBODY to throw to on offense. ALSO, McD made Cassell look good after not starting a game in college or pros forever. His system will do the same for orton.

The best teams are built through the draft. Denver is right now an average team. The right draft picks and this team is great. Denver now has multiple first round pick this year and next. And Shanny isn't doing the picking.

Whu are some of you so upset? there was no deal better. jason campbell sucks to.. And he's young enough that we might have had to stick with him for a year or three. This way Orton is what he is a placeholder.. We're rebuilding. FACE THAT. We needed these picks. We really did.

GO Broncos.

now lets move on. F-u Cutler.

I was just checking out the site dabearz.com
Most of those guys are saying that they are going to the Super Bowl this year. I did notice a couple of guys saying the Bears need to make sure they handle Jay with kid gloves or he will implode. They also question his leadership, saying he sulks and whines too much.

Bears give up 2 first-round picks

By John Clayton
ESPN.com

The Chicago Bears pulled the big upset Thursday afternoon by acquiring Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler.

To acquire Cutler, the Bears had to give up quarterback Kyle Orton and first-round picks in 2009 and 2010, along with a third-round pick in 2009.

To complete the trade, the Broncos had to give back a fifth-round pick in 2009. That pick was acquired by the Broncos from the Seattle Seahawks in a trade for wide receiver Keary Colbert.

Cutler Traded to Chicago Bears

Updated 4:18 p.m. MDT

The Denver Broncos have agreed in principle to trade quarterback Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears. Terms of the deal will be disclosed at a later time.

It has been reported that the Broncos will receive a first-round pick in 2009, a third-round pick in 2009, a first-round pick in 2010 and quarterback Kyle Orton in return for Cutler and a fifth-round pick in 2009, though nothing has been officially announced.

If the reports are correct, the Broncos will have the following picks in the upcoming NFL Draft:

1-12-12 Denver
1-18-18 Denver (from Chicago)
2-16-48 Denver
3-15-79 Denver
3-20-84 Denver (from Chicago)
4-14-114 Denver
5-13-149 Denver
6-12-185 Denver
7-16-225 Denver
7-26-235 Denver (from Atlanta)

Check back with DenverBroncos.com for updates.

10 picks, that is a good way to start making changes.

It has been clear that there are a number of "fans" who just can't get past the griping stage of emotional development. I would rather give the new group a chance before I start to pass judgment.

I will repeat myself: if you want to sell your season tickets and your priority number, PM me.

I like how the trade came out. That fifth-round pick we got from Seattle ended up being more of a pick they gave up for nothing considering the Seahawks cut Colbert a few weeks after the trade.

Orton may not be the answer, but he might be a serviceable option now that he has an offensive line to protect him and quality receivers, and the running game should be better. Only question mark is the defense.

As for Cutler, he'll have a running game and a defense, but quite a drop in the offensive line and a drastic drop in the receiving corps... unless the Bears are able to Torry Holt into the fold. And by giving up that first-round pick, the Bears are going to miss out on an offensive tackle that could have helped them out.

Denver is now in good shape to find players to help the defense or perhaps a QB to develop. Who knows if they may try to trade up in the first round of the draft... we'll see.

As for other players wanting out, the only player to publicly say he is unhappy is Tony Scheffler. Champ Bailey and Eddie Royal have said things, but they take a "down the middle" stance. I seriously doubt there will be a rebellion in the locker room... if there was going to be one, it would have happened when Cutler first spoke up.

And if we get a draft pick for Scheffler, all the better.

I'm ready to move forward. As for Orton, welcome to the Broncos... just like everyone else on this team, the ball is in your court, let's see what you do with it.

Keep in mind, the trading may not be over, so the Broncos could end up with more picks, and the ones they have could be converted for higher picks.
