Cutler is a very talented QB no doubt about it.
But Bears receivers and o-line suck, lets see you replicate this pro bowl form Jay. Good luck, because u may need it! Well actually......i hope you suck in Chicago if i'm being really honest.

I'm not sure I can hop completely on board with this trade until I see what Denver does with the extra picks??

I'll admit, I've allowed myself to daydream about McD turning Orton into Cassel II. The offense is loaded with talent, something I don't think Orton had to work with in C-Town.

I'm still sick that the whole situation had to come down to this. I believe if Cutler had changed his diaper and started learning the McD offense, we could have watched him take it up a notch this season. Wasn't meant to be though. In a way I'm glad this whole thing went down, because it showed Jay's true character (or lack thereof)

Considering Jay and Bus forced Denver's hand, I think the Broncos made out nicely: 2 firsts, a 3rd and a decent QB in return. Not quite the Herchel Walker deal, but still quite a haul.

I'm excited for the draft now and it feels good to move on from this stupid soap opra.

Orton is horrible. He completed only 2 passes of more than 20 yards last year (i.e. passes that travelled more than 20 yards downfield not YAC). Forget the poor WRs of the Bears, Orton cannot throw beyond 10 yards or move past the first read. Time and time again I watched Orton miss wide open receivers. He is garbage.

mos def!
why didnt we take their STRONG armed QB, GROSSMAN istead?

He can throw that ball 60 yards thru the goal post, I have seen him do it !
wow, we sure could use a guy like that !
he took his team to the superbowl!
rex grossman, how could we be so blind ?
did the INTELLEGENCE of our COACHES get in the way of selecting the QB with all the bells and whistles?
golly gee, why must we be so sensable!

uncle rico, on this one, I am glad we are really not related!

I meant to quote not salute your post. I don't want Grossman either. He's a free agent by the way. At least had Denver got Brady Quinn back in the deal, I think the outlook at the position would have been much brighter. I can only think of 4 starting QBs that I woulnd't take over Orton: Jackson (MIN), Hill (SF), Russell (OAK), and Culpepper (DET).

Well, I admit...I have not watched many Bears games. I really only have time to follow one team, and even then I don't get to be as Bronco-consumed as I'd like to (my low post count would show that

If he can't beat out Rex then you may have a point there? I don't really know? Maybe we go out and draft a guy in a few weeks? I'm not excited about Simms or Orton, but I'm willing to give it a shot before I throw the whole move under the bus.

I'm just happy the ESPN-driven soap opra is done. I'll give McD 2 seasons + drafts to turn things around and make visible improvement, after that all bets are off...

Ya, so let's say in 2 years there's no improvement. Then we're bad and w/o a franchise QB. The job isn't nearly as attractive without a stud at QB. McDouche is an arrogant prick.

Actually, Zam, (Broncos) fans need heros to worship, regardless if they win or not.

the proliferation of jake plummer jerseys and threads that touted plummer as a top ten QB in the NFL reflect your evaluation of fandom for the average un-savvy football fan.
I guess even SOME bronco fans can be stoopid.
those same fans cling to false markers of excellence like YARDAGE and pro-bowl selections!

isnt it WEIRD how easily they all forget that PLUMMER was ALSO a PRO_BOWLER the season before SHANNY replaced him? !!!
I dont recall seeing so many pitchforks then.

the casual football fan lacks the knowledge to understand that it takes much more than a big armed QB to win a football game!
they are not unlike T.O.
he catches a TD pass and signs the ball and celebrates like the ball just dropped out of the sky!
no acknowledgement of the COACH who designed the play and called it at the right time and place.
No understanding of how the other receivers played a role in running their routes, occupying corners and safeties.
NO APPRECIATION for the men in the trenches that blocked the pass rush, to give him time to run his routes and the QB, time and space to launch that football!

NO, the average, "JC / TO loving football fan " can only understand and recognise the guy that threw it or the guy that caught it !
these same perifieral knowledge football fans have no idea what guys like lorenzo neal and howard grifith do.
Like the cute little girls wearing their tom brady jerseys,
" have some more popcorn honey"

I'll give you that, Zam. Nash has flourished with the Suns, enough to be MVP caliber. As for our situation in Denver, I have no choice but to put my faith in our coaches and their decisions. All I know, I was very young when Denver picked up Elway but from what I've read and researched, Cutler and Elway kinda had the same early years as far as attitude, cockiness, arrogance, etc... The media and fans were split, just like we are today. I just hope we didn't make a mistake. Eventually, Elway grew up, I would expect Cutler could have too.

I was not a big elway fan we he first came to denver either! in fact, he didnt win me over until he actually threw an interception against the GIANTS to LT and then chased him down and tackled him like a rodeo calf, fighting his way through carson and peppers to do it !

I too had hopes and dreams for cutler, I too hoped he would grow up,

but I had concerns about his slow development as well as his temprament, long before shanny left town !
watching the way he has handled this entire DRAMA, it is easy for me to conclude that he will never outgrow, his spoiled, coddled, pampered petulant behavior.

He had a good thing in denver and it was about to get better, he was not smart enough to see that!

just like he was not smart enough to throw for the easy first down to a wide open receiver on THIRD down, but instead tried to thread the needle, unsuccesfully to a covered receiver 45 yards downfield.
600 + passes, all those yards and yet so few points!
stalled drives and 20 turnovers, just from JC all by himself!
250 passes IN-COM-PLETE
consequently our punter, kicker and DEFENSE got more of a workload than they needed or could handle.
AND ALL THE TALKING HEADS CALL THE BRONCO OFFENSE A SCORING MACHINE, CHECK the facts, MORONS, YARDAGE, NOT points ! lets see what the petulant CHILD will be able to accomplish on SOLDIER FIELD without his DENVER troops !

PFT.com had a report that the Broncos were high on Orton and Quinn. Trading Cutler and going with Orton shows that they were just plain HIGH.

I'm reading that we were real close to getting Quinn in the deal. That would have been something to be excited about. He is smart and can make all the throws. It would have made this deal a lot easier to swallow. What kills me is the prospect of having to watch Orton struggle every Sunday.

And let's not forget that both Orton and Simms lost starting jobs to Brian Griese. Let's get ready for the season of three and out! Screw McDaniels that arrogant douchebag.
