I wonder if McD thinks he can do with quarterbacks what Shanny did with running backs...

Shanahan's running back "magic" is only partially fact... it's mostly a myth.

Without Davis or Portis, Denver's running attack disappeared when the Broncos faced worthy contenders in the playoffs.

Sure, Shanahan found ways to get production from mediocre players in the regular season--against mediocre competition. But, his "magic" didn't trump talent when it mattered most.

Next, we'll start talking about how great his fast midget linebackers were again... Fantastic. Why didn't they contribute in pass coverage regularly? Where were all the sacks? And, why did they disappear the moment someone got a hat on them?... Another Shanny myth.

I'm tired of Shanny myths. He got fired because he needed a real defense and a real feature back... Just like everybody else does.

I'm with you on this 100 percent. I just kept getting pissed off when we pasted up good talent and picked up backs with issues

he seemed pretty high on orton and simms, i would be shocked if we tried to trade up and get sanchez/stafford...though he did say we're evaluating all the qbs like we're evaluating everyone...so who knows

The draft comment is much like many head coaches when it comes to the NFL draft... never tip your hand and try to make other teams worried that you might take the player they covet, so they try to complete a deal with you.

Broncos are not gonna trade up.......Our new management said they dont believe in giving away picks. But i wonder if Sheffler stays? Were still gonna probably trade him.......and pick up another pretty high pick.

If McDaniels keep playing his cards like Belichick does, there will be a trade down, not up. I guarantee you McDaniels' talk about Stafford and Sanchez is McDaniels hoping to lure the Jets or Tampa Bay to trade up now that they missed out on Cutler.

I'm positive Scheffler wlll be dealt... we won't get more than a Day Two pick for him, though.

At this point im fine with that. Then we can take Nelson in the third or 4th.

I hate how he still holds his ground on the we just took calls.

Just don't even say it at all any more. It's a lie and dispite cutler being a douche and being out of town it's still a lie.

Other than that.. good presser.

I really hope we just go defense and skip the sanchez/stafford temptation.

If we want a QB Sanchez would be there @ 12........ Then you have Freeman who has all the talent in the world......

Pretty good 2nd round QBs like Davis.......

But most of our picks will be defensive. We have a chance to land some great defensive players

McDaniels has to win (at least) one more game, improve the defense significantly, and fix the running back situation to impress me. (Shanahan also rebuilt the o-line that season. McD gets a freebee on that.)

Shanahan did those things facing similar challenges in his first year.

I cut Shanny some slack that season for the snow game. Elway couldn't throw the ball the entire first half... Elway got his glove after that loss. That game was unwinnable.

Davis' late season injury also hurt. The length of the NFL season also seemed to wear on Terrell (not uncommon for rookies).

The standard is set. Time to deliver. I see Shanny's ego; now I want the results.

I cleaned this up a bit...let's keep it civil people. Since the trade is done, and there are tons of other new threads on the various issues about the picks, and cutler business in chicago, i'm going to lock this one up.

The Bears acquired quarterback Jay Cutler today for No. 1 draft picks in 2009 and 2010, a No. 3 pick this year and Kyle Orton, the Sun-Times has learned

I like Orton better than Simms.
