Keys to Victory vs the Chiefs

- Show up. In week 4, our team decided to stay on the plane. Motivation will be key here, these guys need to realize the West is not ‘clinched’ yet, and prove they are a team worthy of being a division leader. That means you put a hurting on the cellar dwellers of the league.

- Stop LJ. Week 4: 198 yards. Shut down the KC run game at all costs. I am fine with Thigpen trying to carry the load.

- Get to Thigpen. As the Broncos have proven time and time again, you can make any QB look like Joe Montana when you give them all day. Thigpen has looked solid at times, just don’t make him look like the MVP of the league.

- Feature Hillis. The Broncos are 30th in the league in rush yards allowed per attempt. Guess who is 31st? You’ve got it, the Chiefs allow 5 yards per carry. Get Hillis the ball early and often.

- Spread the ball around. Royal, Marshall, Scheffler, Stokely, Hillis…they could all have huge games this week.

This game should be a cakewalk, however, as we all know…

an NFL football “purist” will see it as …
    “run and stop the run”
but because the broncos are a pass first team and empowered with so many PASSING offensive weapons, our mantra is not so simple.
yes, the broncos have shown, especially recently, that they are capable of running, the real question is their motivation, or dare I say “commitment”
as a long time run proponent,(thats because I love winning football) I have no anamosity with cutler throwing the ball 40 times a game, our talented passing attack, justifies it !
However, the targets and selection of “who we pass to” and “where” we attempt to pass , is subject to scrutiny !
our passing attack NEEDS more MENSA and less EGO !

    bottom line:
to win we must be smarter about the utilization of our passing attack, and far less “one dimensional” if we hope to beat an opponent who knows us far too well and can use our “tendancies” against us !
